Is online always the best way? Well...
Online shopping: you can buy literally anything online, I don't need to tell you that. For example, just the other day I stumbled across some second-hand roller banners on Ebay which would have cost almost four times as much brand-new. I bought them immediately, with the idea of selling them onto my friend who has an exhibition set-up company (they rent equipment to people who want to exhibit).
But online shopping isn't always the best way. Why? Because although most things are cheaper online, there are a handful of things which you can get for just the same price in shops. Such as follows:
Walk into an HMV and you’ll find you can pick up classic films for under £5...
1) Vintage clothes: these are one of the few things that you really need to touch and feel and war before you can commit to buying. For example, Oxfam have a vast range of items in their shops, and they are not online. The only way to really know if they are for you is to try them on. Online doesn’t always win, you know!
2) Computers: weirdly, many laptop computers are exactly the same price in the shops as they are online. The advantage of going to PC World, say, is that you can actually ask questions and speak to a real shop assistant. Not only that but you can see if the keyboard suits you and if you like a glossy or matt screen. All things that need to be taken into consideration.
3) DVDs and CDs: the price war between online sellers and high-street retailers is at apocalypse point right now. Walk into an HMV and you’ll find you can pick up classic films for under £5. So, are you really sure you want to buy online now? Wouldn’t it be nice to buy from a shop for a change and not get ripped-off?
Want to see HMV around for a lot longer? Then you may want to get down the high-street soon...
